As everyone knows, TWC has suffered from a lot of problems over the summer and when Rome 2 came out the site was pretty much unusable during peak load. The load on our servers has grown beyond their ability to handle it, and its time to purchase new hardware. Truth be told, we should have done this last year. The last time we bought new servers was in 2008 and 2009, and reading the threads from back then has made me realize that we are beyond the life expectancy that I myself projected for those machines. At that time, we were projecting 3-5 years of use on those machines, and we are nearly at the 6 year mark now on thor. That machine was built in January of 2008 and out in service soon after.
Between the confusion of changing site ownership, vBulletin upgrades, and advertising income problems and all the other things that go with the day to day site management, I failed to make this a priority. I apologize for that, and in the future I am going to set a hard date for the replacement of each machine in our network. Starting in January of 2014 I will set aside a portion of site income for the purchase of a new server every three years. Now that site advertising is sorted out (for the meantime) and we have a few other things coming in the next few months, this should be entirely feasible.
However, we need a server now, not in 3 years. Or even in 3-4 months. We need to do something in the next 2-3 weeks, and the site doesn't currently have the money to pay for this outright. The site currently has about $1400 in cash, and we need about $6300. So I am now asking for donations to help keep the site running. This is not the first time in the history of TWC that we have done this, and it may not be the last time (though I hope it is) but in the end it will help keep TWC the best and biggest TW fansite on the planet.
The Donation Link is in the bottom left corner of every page on TWC or you can click the link in this announcement. Donations of any amount will be accepted, even if its only $1. We currently have nearly 33,000 active members. If just 25% of those active members gave $1 each then we would easily hit our goal with some to spare. And if you are not in a position to donate, you have my thanks anyways for helping to make TWC the best site there is.
I will start a thread in the Q & S to keep everyone updated on the progress and to answer any questions.

direi che ce n'era bisogno, è da un anno che i tempi di caricamento sono diventati un qualcosa di abnorme
...però non c'ho 'na lira, ho speso tutto per il pc xD

finanziare quello che è il principale forum concorrente in ambito internazionale? nààà
molto meglio per loro che tutti si stufino della lentezza di twc e passino al forum ufficiale

senza twc non si muore mica......i mod si possono sempre uppare da altre parti

penso ci sia un disguido con enzo...i modder sono utenti, gli utenti vanno al forum ufficiale perché twc è lento, quindi twc muore ed il forum della ca triplica di dimensioni, ergo anche le mod verrebbero postate lì, dai quali ne deriva pubblicità e tanti dindi che entrano nelle tasche degli sviluppatori, sia per il maggior afflusso di utenti nel sito/forum, sia perché vengono aumentate le vendite a lungo termine

se quelli della CA o della SEGA usassero x l eventuale gestione del forum la stessa accuratezza che hanno dimostrato di avere x rome2 il forum avrebbe vita breve...
